Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has said he expects a spectacular match against five-time champions Brazil in Monday’s FIFA U-20 World Cup clash at the Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth, New Zealand.

Kick-off of the opening Group E showdown will be 1pm local time, which is 2am on Monday in Nigeria.

“It (the match) will be a spectacle,” predicted an upbeat coach Manu at the official press conference ahead of the match on Sunday.

“Brazil have won the World Cup five times, but Nigeria are no pushovers either. I am here with the bulk of the squad who won the U17 World Cup two years ago. We are the youngest team in New Zealand, but we are a great side. We have the confidence and we will win.

“This is the most important match for us because a win will boost our morale as we plan to go all the way to win this tournament.”

He added: “We are at full strength and only need mother luck from God now.”

Flying Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho said they will attack Brazil on Monday.

“We are a very good team going forward and we will attack any team including Brazil with full force,” said the 18-year-old Manchester City starlet, who was named MVP of the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Monday’s match will be handled by Italian referee Orsato Danielle to be assisted by compatriots Tonolini Mauro and Manganelli Lorenzo as well as Liani Liran from Israel.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles will be cheered on by at least 60 Nigerians who are resident in New Zealand. The fans are expected to make the five-hour bus ride from Auckland to New Plymouth.

Nigerian High Commissioner to Australia, who also supervises New Zealand, Cecilia Yahaya, has also confirmed she will attend the match.
