Eagles donate cash, food items to orphans in Abuja – The NFF Official Website

Children of Divine Wounds Orphanage in Kubwa, Abuja had wonderful experience from players of the Super Eagles on Saturday.

The National Team players showered gifts and food items on the less-privileged kids while also pledging cash donations to help with their education at a Corporate Social Responsibility event held at the National Stadium in Abuja.

Captain Vincent Enyeama, who spoke on behalf of his team mates, promised to donate his match allowance for Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad to the Orphanage, while Russia-based forward Ahmed Musa pledged N500,000 to the needy kids.

“We are doing these so that you can further your education,” Enyeama, presently on 100 caps, opened up. “Of all possible investment that can be made in a child, the best is good education.”

The players donated food items like rice, milk, noodles, beverages, snacks and toiletries to take care of some of the children’s immediate needs.

“Life may have started with a slow pace but you need to understand that it is a privilege to have it in the first place and nothing should stop you from aspiring to be the best that you can be,” Enyeama added.

Speaking on behalf of his siblings in the Orphanage (some of whom were also present at the event), Kingsley Ojo thanked the Super Eagles for their generosity and prayed for the team’s success in upcoming international engagements.

“God will bless you for this gesture because He loves those who give to the fatherless and less privileged cheerfully. The Super Eagles will continue to succeed in all their engagements from now on, by the Special Grace of God,” Ojo prayed.
